Pets 2.0
So I like the new addition to the game, but as already mentioned pets are worthless. Worse than the fire imp stone summon or ice imp assura skill or assasin summon or etc.
So how about: *giving pets their own skill bar*
1. They could have a reduced skill bar (maybe just 4 to 6 and no elite), user can change. If that is too much too ask then a fixed bar like the hench.
2. Each pet could have a preset primary profession (wolves = Warriors, lions = Dervs, tigers = Sins, rainbow phoenix = Ele etc). Most make a lot of sense. Tigers really are sins
3. There would be no secondary prof for pets. Like any monster.
4. Primary attribute of the pet's profession would be equal to the player's investment in Beast Mastery.
5. Second attribute investment would be preset and unmodifiable based on the pet type and level, reaching 12 (or possibly 15) at level 20.
Some examples:
Wolf -- sword warrior
Profession: W/-
Attributes:
<beastmaster's investment in Beast Mastery> Strength
12 Swordmanship @ lvl 20
Skills:
Either 4 skills set by the user or 4 preset sword/strength skills.
Rainbow Pheonix -- fire ele
Profession: E/-
Attributes:
<beastmaster's investment in Beast Mastery> Energy Storage
12 Fire Magic @ lvl 20
Skills:
Either 4 skills set by the user or 4 preset fire/energy skills.
Imperial Pheonix -- water ele
Profession: E/-
Attributes:
<beastmaster's investment in Beast Mastery> Energy Storage
12 Water Magic @ lvl 20
Skills:
Either 4 skills set by the user or 4 preset water/energy skills.
Tiger -- daggers sin
Profession: A/-
Attributes:
<beastmaster's investment in Beast Mastery> Critical Strickes
12 Dagger Mastery @ lvl 20
Skills:
Either 4 skills set by the user or 4 preset daggers/critical strikes skills.
So on.
The effect:
- it would finally make more sense to have a pet stable and it would actually give players an incentive to change the pet based on the area they are going to
- it would finally make pets on par or maybe better than the summoning stones (summoned creatures do use skills by the way)
- it would finally solve the bar compression problem of the beast master, since the bar is actually extended by the 4 slots of the pet. The player would still need to use 2 skills of their bar to have a pet (charm animal and the heal/res) so there is an actual extension of 2 (given the pet would have 4 skills).
If I were working for ANet I would implement this myself but I'm not so I'm posting this idea here.

Because rangers aren't already tipping the scales as one of the most over powered classes in the game? Pets are useless yes, but if you give them skills, they will become easily too overpowered with beast master skills + bow attacks at the same time.
That's like having 3 players in one.
So BIG /notsigned.
Also, Fire imp is useless? The perma pre community laughs at your shenanigans.
